Farming can't wait for flood recovery. We learn to adapt and keep growing.
Between 3 and 6am on March 26 a flash flood devastated our buildings and equipment and we've been in recovery mode for most of April and May. We repaired the tractor and irrigation pump, and have been working on a pump and storage building on higher ground, and much further away from the river. The new pump location, however, requires a much longer and larger diameter suction line and new pipes on the output side as well. We have finished the foundation and now have enough lumber, purchased from a local saw mill, to start drying it in. Thanks to the help of our friends and garden customers who have helped make this possible. We should be able to resume our monthly garden dinners Saturday, June 19th.
